Purchase Supports the Addition of Digital Services for Film and Entertainment

UV&S a privately‐owned company and an industry leader in secure storage solutions for the film and entertainment industry, has announced the acquisition of R3store Studios, based in London, England. R3store Studios and R3el, their licensing branch, is one of the most trusted archive and restoration companies in the United Kingdom, and the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions from within the industry.

This acquisition expands the offerings of UV&S to include Digital Services, supporting one of its largest client industries, Film and Entertainment. R3store Studios has expertise in tape digitization, film scanning, grading, restoration, and preservation, offering comprehensive services to safeguard and revive cinematic treasures. The restoration process includes innovative technology and meticulous craftsmanship, along with traditional techniques to achieve optimal results.

Jo Griffin, co‐founder of R3store, will lead the division as Digital & Restoration Director and a team of award‐winning industry professionals will continue with the company. R3el is the footage licensing branch of R3store Studios and boasts an extensive library of digitized and restored stock footage, making them available to film makers and commercial enterprises through its website.

This move marks an exciting new chapter in our mission to preserve and restore film history, reinforcing our commitment to providing world-class film restoration and digitisation services.

Our new Stratford office will allow us to serve our clients with even greater efficiency and expertise. With the addition of three new scanners and two extra film cleaners, we are expanding our capabilities and strengthening our ability to safeguard the world’s film heritage. This expansion aligns with UV&S’s dedication to delivering comprehensive solutions that protect, manage, and enhance valuable assets across all industries. The move is more than just a change of address—it’s an investment in the future of film preservation. Becoming Led Zeppelin, the highly anticipated documentary featuring never-before-seen footage of one of rock’s most iconic bands, is now hitting the big screen. Behind the scenes, our team at R3Store Studios, dedicated nearly five years to digitizing archival footage to ensure it could be experienced in stunning 4K IMAX quality.

The Art of Restoration: How R3Store Studios Brought Led Zeppelin’s Story to Life

Led by Jo Griffin, Digital and Restoration Director for R3Store Studios in London, the team worked closely with Director Bernard MacMahon, Producer Allison McGourty, and Archive Producer Kate Griffiths to transform decades-old footage into a seamless cinematic experience. The process involved transferring countless hours of archival material, ensuring each clip retained its authenticity while meeting the high standards of modern IMAX presentation. As McGourty shared, “We spent five years flying back and forth across the Atlantic, scouring attics and basements in pursuit of rare and unseen film footage, photographs, and music recordings. Then we transferred each piece of media with custom techniques so that, in IMAX, these 55-year-old clips and music would look and sound like they came out of the lab yesterday.” **
